1700 Degrees of Romance

The holidays are over but the season of romantic love has begun! What are your plans for Valentine’s Day 2017? While it’s always nice to get away to an exotic locale, you can have your own mini-getaway right in the heart of Harrisburg! With these unique date ideas, you can park your car for the weekend and explore Harrisburg with ease.

Catch a Film

Whitaker Center for Science and Arts has the biggest movie screen in Central PA and they are putting it to use this February with their Oscar Winning Film Series. What’s more romantic than watching the 1943 classic Casablanca with your lover? Casablanca plays at 7:30 PM on Friday, February 10th, and Saturday, February 18th.

Enjoy a Carriage Ride

In today’s fast-paced society, sometimes it’s nice to appreciate life from a different viewpoint. If you only see Harrisburg from the window of your car, try slowing down and seeing the city with fresh eyes on a romantic carriage ride! South Mountain Carriage Company operates from city island and offers horse-drawn carriage rides around the island and through Riverfront Park from noon until 9 PM on Saturdays and Sundays.

Go Nude

Pennsylvania artist Philip Pearlstein’s illustrious career has spanned seventy-five years, beginning as an army sign painter in WWII and eventually becoming famous for his Modern Realism nudes. Philip Pearlstein: Seventy-Five Years of Painting will be on display at the Susquehanna Art Museum from Saturday, February 11 – Sunday, May 21st. Admission to the museum is $8.00.
